Congratulations on your new puppy!
This is an exciting time for you and your new best friend. It may feel like there's so much to learn and so much to do! Never fear, our Puppy Preschool is designed to help you on this learning journey and set you both up for lifelong success!
Being sociable creatures’ puppies need your support and encouragement to learn healthy behaviours and establish good habits. Our Puppy Preschool is held in small groups in a safe and controlled environment that aims to coach you on how to best look after your puppy and encourage desired behaviours.
We have two levels of puppy school:
- Puppy Preschool; puppies 8 – 14 weeks
- Puppy Manners 101; puppies 4 – 6 months
When can my puppy begin Puppy Preschool?
Our Puppy Preschool is for puppies 8 – 14 weeks with a focus on socialisation and raising a healthy & confident puppy. It’s best to get started as soon as possible to take advantage of your puppies critical social learning period.
As soon as your puppy has received their first vaccination (generally 6-8 weeks of age) they are able to commence Puppy Preschool.
Our classroom is disinfected (in line with clinical protocols at our veterinary clinics) and all puppies who attend have had at least one vaccination, so puppies can safely socialise in this space.
If your puppy is a bit older, then Puppy Manner 101 is the course for you!
What will my Puppy Learn?
Using a positive rewards-based approach, we will:
• Help you learn to read your puppy’s body language and respond positively.
• Train skills like sit, drop, look, and walking on leash.
• Address toilet training, mouthing & biting, jumping up and other unwanted (but normal) puppy behaviours.
• Socialise your puppy so they grow up to be happy and confident.
• Supervise puppy play time in a safe and controlled environment.
Puppy Preschool is held once a week, for 1 hour, over four weeks, hosted by one of our experienced puppy trainers.
